Meet the Pastor:
Rev.
Jones was lead to the Lord as a young airman by
observing the faith of a poor missionary family serving in
primitive conditions with very little provision. He was baptized
in the Tomakawa River shortly thereafter and began his Christian
life. Ten years later it was the mid 70's and he was serving
in his first full time position as principal of a Christian
academy. Continuing his education over the years found him
as professor, then field representative and chief pilot for
PBBS near Philadelphia, PA. The circle was completed when
he returned to the Raiuku Islands as an independent Baptist
missionary, where he served for 4 years.
After returning to the U.S. he went to work at the Redlands
Bible Institute. When the Redlands Bible Institute closed,
the then head administrator, entered the secular work force.
His career eventually brought him to Phoenix as one of the
eight national managers for the largest privately owned transportation
firm in America. About a year ago he was told his office was
moving to LA. At this time he was preaching to four families
in their living room in Gilbert, AZ. The baby church, having
organized only a year ago used this as an opportunity to build
and grow.
We were lead to build the church house in a national attraction
affording overwhelming evangelistic opportunity. The building
is almost full to capacity every service resulting in many
professions of faith. We offer preaching of old time New Testament
gospel services to winter visitors and local church fellowship
to year round residents.
Reverend Jones and his wife, Cheryl, have been married for
38 years. They have four grown children and seven grandchildren;
most of them live locally and are members of The Church at
the Mount.
